Firefighter! Daigo of Fire Company M: Kyukoku no Orange anime is based on the sequel manga of the same name by Masahito Soda, with assistance from Kuro Tomiyama. It has been serialized in Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Magazine since October 2020. The manga is preceded by the 1995 manga Megumi no Daigo by the same author. It was published under Shogakukan Weekly Shonen Sunday.
This was then followed by a 1995 anime film directed by Susumu Nishizawa and animated by Sunrise. In 2004, a television drama series also aired on Fuji TV, and had 11 episodes.
Viz Media has licensed the original Firefighter Daigo of Fire Company manga in English, describing its first volume as:
Fire, smoke, adrenaline, and fear–when everyone is running to escape from a fire, a few courageous people are running to jump right into the thick of it. Firefighters put their own lives on the line to protect others and Daigo Asahina has always dreamed of becoming one. He’s fresh out of the training academy and has been newly assigned to Medaka-Ga-Hama fire station. Cocky and overconfident, Daigo responds to a few calls and is quickly humbled and put in his place–he’s still got a lot to learn before he can call himself a true firefighter.
