Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle Movie to Premiere in the Philippines on May 15

Medialink officially announced that the Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle movie will premiere in the Philippines on May 15, 2024. A visual for the movie’s premiere was released via Ani-One Asia:

SM Cinemas previously teased an earlier premiere date for the Philippines, but as of writing, has not released any information. Medialink describes the plot of the Haikyu movie:

“Shoyo Hinata was inspired to play volleyball after watching “Small Giants” in elementary school. Despite a devastating defeat by his rival Tobio Kageyama in middle school, Hinata joins Karasuno High School’s volleyball team, only to find Kageyama there as well. The former foes unite, creating a formidable partnership with Hinata’s agility and Kageyama’s precision.

During a joint training camp with Nekoma High School, Hinata encounters his future rival, Kenma Kozume. While Karasuno focuses on aggressive attacks, Nekoma excels in defense, embodying the motto of “Connect”. Through these encounters, Karasuno learns new strategies and possibilities.

In the Miyagi Prefecture Spring High School Volleyball Tournament and its preliminaries, Karasuno defeats formidable opponents, culminating in a stunning victory over Inarizaki High School. They are preparing to face their long-standing rivals, Nekoma High School, in the highly anticipated third round. Despite numerous practice matches, these two powerhouse teams have never officially clashed. This long-awaited showdown is famously known as “The Dumpster Battle.”

The movie will be opening in cinemas this May 2024 in Southeast Asia, including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, India, and the Philippines. The exact showing dates have not yet been revealed. Medialink also opened the movie in Hong Kong and Macau on April 11, and Taiwan on April 12. The movie is available in IMAX, 4DX, and MX4D, with English subtitles.
