The movie follows the events of Volume 34 with the Nekoma vs Karasuno match in the “Tokyo Nationals Arc.” Medialink describes the plot:

“Shoyo Hinata was inspired to play volleyball after watching “Small Giants” in elementary school. Despite a devastating defeat by his rival Tobio Kageyama in middle school, Hinata joins Karasuno High School’s volleyball team, only to find Kageyama there as well. The former foes unite, creating a formidable partnership with Hinata’s agility and Kageyama’s precision.

During a joint training camp with Nekoma High School, Hinata encounters his future rival, Kenma Kozume. While Karasuno focuses on aggressive attacks, Nekoma excels in defense, embodying the motto of “Connect”. Through these encounters, Karasuno learns new strategies and possibilities.

In the Miyagi Prefecture Spring High School Volleyball Tournament and its preliminaries, Karasuno defeats formidable opponents, culminating in a stunning victory over Inarizaki High School. They are preparing to face their long-standing rivals, Nekoma High School, in the highly anticipated third round. Despite numerous practice matches, these two powerhouse teams have never officially clashed. This long-awaited showdown is famously known as “The Dumpster Battle.”
