Funimation also tweeted the full trailer for the upcoming anime. Most of the cast is returning, including the minor characters.

Higurashi: Sotsu is a sequel of Higurashi: Gou. Gou first aired in the Fall season of 2020 and had 24 episodes. Although the anime wasn’t a direct sequel to the previous Higurashi adaptations, the plot was connected and served as a continuation of the story.

Seiyuu cast is also coming back. Mika Konai is voicing Satoko, while Yukari Tamura voices Rika. Mai Nakihara is once again starring as Rena, who can be heard narrating parts of the trailer. Eua, the antagonist first introduced in Higurashi: Gou will be voiced by Noriko Hidaka. Souichiro Hoshi (Keiichi) and Satsuki Yukino (Mion and Shion) are returning as well.

The original Higurashi anime aired in 2006. Studio DEEN animated the series and all of its sequels, side stories, and a movie. The story is originally based on a visual novel by 07th Expansion.

Higurashi: Sotsu is airing this July. Studio Passione, which also animated Gou, is producing the series.
