Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story 2 has a new key visual. The anime is premiering in the Summer of 2021, but the exact date isn’t known yet.
The first season of Magia Record came out in the Winter of 2020 season. Studio SHAFT is once again animating the series. Gekidan Inu Curry, a collab person between Ayumi Shiraishi and Yousuke Anai, is directing the anime and doing the series composition as well. Junichirou Taniguchi is listed as a chief animation director, as well as a character designer. Takumi Ozawa is in charge with the music. In addition, Akiyuki Simbo is supervising the animation.
The voice cast is also returning: Momo Asakura voices Iroha, while Sora Amamiya stars as Nanami. Kana Hanazawa, Ayane Sakura, Ayaka Ohashi, and Yui Ogura are returning as well. Shiina Natsukawa, Kaori Ishihara, and Mikako Komatsu are also starring in this season of Magia Record.
The plot revolves around Magical Girls who keep the world safe by killing Witches, chaotic creatures who threaten humanity. Every Magical Girl puts her life on a line for a wish, but Iroha Tamaki can’t remember what she wished for. However, she hears rumors about Kamihama City and heads there, in hopes that she’ll find answers.
Magia Record is a spin-off series to the highly popular Puella Magi Madoka Magica franchise. Puella Magi Madoka Magica originally aired in 2011. Madoka Magica project also has three movies. The first two movies are recap versions of the first season, while the third is a sequel. A new movie project is also in the works.
