The top anime-themed subreddit, r/Anime, revealed the winners of its annual anime awards -2022 edition. As was the case in previous years, the votes were divided between public votes and jury votes. The results were surprising in some cases, but not so much in others.
The prestigious Anime of the Year title failed to reach a consensus. The public chose Bocchi the Rock! while the jury picked an underdog – Yama no Susume: Next Summit. A similar situation happened in the Best Movie category, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 won the public vote but the jury was impressed with Shoujo☆Kageki Revue Starlight Movie.
The theme song category, which included all songs used in the 2022 anime, also had different winners. Ranking of Kings’ “Hadaka no Yuusha” by Vaundy won when it came to jury votes, but the public chose “Kick Back” by Kenshi Yonezu (Chainsaw Man) as their favorite. In the ending theme song category, Chainsaw Man popped up once again: Maximum the Hormone’s “Hawatari Nioku Centi” won the jury’s hearts. The public chose “Yofukashi no Uta” by Creepy Nuts from Call of the Night. It’s interesting to note that this song is a few years old and that the Call of the Night manga series was named after it.
In the Best Voice Actor category, the jury picked Chika Anzai for her role of Chisato in Lycoris Recoil original anime, while the public was impressed with Yoshino Aoyama’s performance as socially anxious Hitori “Bocchi” Gotou. Bocchi the Rock! was also chosen as a winner for the Best OST by the public, while the jury chose Chainsaw Man soundtrack. The other categories and winners for 2022 r/Anime Awards include:
