Tomo-chan Is a Girl anime released preview images for episode 3 along with its synopsis. The next episode is scheduled to be broadcast on January 18. Studio Lay-duce is animating the adaptation which has been airing since January 4.
The new episode comes with two titles: “Shinyu no Himitsu (lit. Secret of My Best Friend)” and “Date Shiyoze! (lit. Let’s go for a date!).” In the previous episode, Tomo Aizawa (Rie Takahashi) learned that Junichiro Kubota (Kaito Ishikawa) and Misuzu Gundo (Rina Hidaka) were a couple in their junior high school. The news upset her and she asked Misuzu about that: it turns out that their relationship lasted only for three days. In the meantime, Junichiro assumed Kosuke Misaki (Kohei Amasaki), who gets along with Tomo was a girl. Their first encounter ends awkwardly. After school, the two happen to see again at a bus station, and Junichiro ends up revealing his feelings for Tomo during their conversations.
Studio Lay-duce is animating Tomo-chan Is a Girl anime based on Fumita Yanagida’s debut manga of the same name that has been serialized on Seikaisha’s 4-panel manga service Twi4 from April 2015 to July 2019. The company published the final, 8th, compiled volume in September 2019. Crunchyroll is streaming the anime.
Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the Tomo-chan Is a Girl manga for English releases and published the final volume in September 2020. The official website describes the plot of the series as:
