Sword Art Online: Progressive: Scherzo of Deep Night‘s main trailer has received an English dub. The movie will premiere in North America (US and Canada) on February 3, 2023, and it will be available in both English-subbed and English-dubbed versions. The video features Eir Aoi’s “Heart“, also the anime film’s theme song. The movie’s release in North America and Canada was announced on December 13, 2022. Sword Art Online: Progressive – Scherzo of Deep Night will be also available in New Zealand and Australia on February 2, and in Ireland and in the United Kingdom on February 1 of the same year. Dates for the movie’s release in Latin America and some parts of Europe will be announced soon.
Sword Art Online: Progressive – Scherzo of Deep Night premiered on October 22, 2022, in IMAX theatres in Japan. The show topped the Japanese Box Office revenue during the opening weekend. However, the movie was originally set to premiere on September 10 of the same year, but it was delayed due to COVID-19’s rising cases in Japan. The first movie in the progressive series, titled Sword Art Online: Progressive – Aria of a Starless Night was released on October 30, 2022, in Japan, which also topped the Japanese Box Office revenue during its opening weekend. The Progressive series of the franchise is a spin-off series of the original anime., which tells the early days of Kirito and Asuna inside the floating castle, Aincrad. The movie and the anime’s main series are both available to stream on Crunchyroll.
The main anime is based on Reki Kawahara’s Sword Art Online series. ASCII Media Works has been serializing it with abec’s illustrations since 2009, and it currently has 27 volumes with more than 30 million cumulative copies in circulation. The Progressive spin-off light novel series is also being published by the same publisher, and it currently has 8 volumes available. Yen Press is publishing both of the series in English.
