During the past few weeks, Anime Corner held its annual polls for the best anime of the year, as well as polls for a variety of categories. Among those, users voted for their favorite romance anime of 2023. After carefully compiling the votes, spread among 15 aime that aired in 2023, we finally have the results for the Best Romance Anime of the Year.
Best Romance Anime of 2023 Rank 5 – Tomo-chan Is a Girl
Tomo-chan Is a Girl is an anime adaptation of the original four-panel manga series written and illustrated by Fumita Yanagida. The manga was published on the official Twi4 Twitter account and Saizensen website between 2015 and 2019 and released a total of 8 volumes. Tomo-chan Is a Girl is directed by Hitoshi Nanba with Megumi Shimizu in charge of the series composition and Shiori Hiraiwa handling the character designs. The anime was widely popular during its airtime and finished second in Anime Corner’s Winter 2023 Anime Rankings.

Best Romance Anime of 2023 Rank 4 – My Love Story With Yamada-kun at Lv999
My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv999 anime is an adaptation of the Japanese manga series by Mashiro. Comic Smart has been serializing the series on Ganma, since March 2019, and it currently has six volumes in circulation. Morio Asaka is directing the anime at studio Madhouse. Kunihiko Hamada is working on the character designs, while Yasuhiro Nakanishi oversees the series composition.

Best Romance Anime of 2023 Rank 3- My Happy Marriage
The first season of the My Happy Marriage anime aired from July to September 2023 across 12 episodes with a sequel announced immediately after the finale. The series streamed on Netflix in the United States and was met with widespread praise, finishing sixth in Anime Corner’s Summer 2023 Anime Rankings.
My Happy Marriage adapts the light novel and manga of the same name. Yen Press licensed the novel in English, and they describe the story:

Best Romance Anime of 2023 Rank 2 – The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten
The first season of The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten aired from January to March 2023 across 12 episodes, with a second season in the works. The series was very popular at the time and won Anime of the Season in Anime Corner’s Winter 2023 rankings. The anime is directed by Kenichi Imaizumi. Meanwhile, Keiichiro Oochi is in charge of the series composition, Takayuki Noguchi is the character designer, and Moe Hyuuga is composing the music.

The Dangers in My Heart anime is based on the manga of the same name written and illustrated by Norio Sakurai and licensed in English by Seven Seas Entertainment. Season 2 is currently airing and is dominating Anime Corner’s weekly polls, but Season 1 also aired this year, and was met with widespread praise, ending as second on Anime Corner’s Spring 2023 rankings.
