The Dangers in My Heart Manga Has Officially Ended After 8 Years of Serialization

Norio Sakurai’s The Dangers in My Heart (BokuYaba) manga officially ended on September 15, 2026, with its final chapter released on Akita Shoten’s Champion Cross website.

The series began serialization in 2018 in Weekly Shonen Champion before later moving to Champion Cross. It follows Kyotaro Ichikawa, a socially withdrawn middle school student, and Anna Yamada, the popular girl in his class, as they slowly develop a romance despite the completely different personalities.

The manga has surpassed 7 million copies in circulation. The final volume, Volume 14, will be released on November 6. A special edition will also include Kyotaro Ichikawa’s 12th Junior High School Graduation Album Art Book, featuring approximately 200 pages of illustrations.

Sakurai shared a handwritten message following the conclusion:

“I’m truly relieved from the bottom of my heart that I was able to bring more than eight years of serialization to a healthy and successful end…!”

I deeply feel that The Dangers in My Heart was a work blessed with so many wonderful ‘connections.’ Just like Kyotaro Ichikawa, who started out as a hopeless loner, the series itself grew through the many encounters it had.

The first season of the TV anime adaptation ran for 12 episodes in Spring 2023. The second season of the anime ran for a total of 13 episodes in Winter 2024, absolutely dominating our weekly rankings all the way with the first sweep in history. The second season also won the title of 2024 Anime of the Year, along with many other awards.

Season 3 is set to premiere in 2027.

Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the title in English, while HIDIVE is streaming the anime. The story follows Kyotaro Ichikawa, a boy who fantasizes about acting on his twisted thoughts, but an encounter with the adorable Anna Yamada completely changes his life.

The franchise also released a novel adaptation on September 25, 2025, with the book featuring 4 short stories, along with showing Kyotaro and Anna 10 years in the future.
