Famed Japanese musician and film director, YOSHIKI, attended a ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood where his handprints were unveiled. YOSHIKI is the first Japanese artist to be honored by the Chinese Theater since the tradition began in 1927.
During the ceremony, YOSHIKI stated in his speech that he dedicated this honor to the victims affected by the Noto Peninsula Earthquake, which happened on January 1. He also announced that he will auction off his crystal piano and all the proceeds from the auction will also go towards supporting the earthquake victims. He has already donated 10 million yen to relief efforts. During the ceremony, he played two songs on the piano: “Endless Rain” and “Forever Love.”
YOSHIKI has also announced that he will be composing the international theme song for Sanrio’s Hello Kitty 50th anniversary. He has also hinted at future film projects.
YOSHIKI is a Japanese musician, composer, and film director. He is best known for his X Japan project, which helped put visual kei on the music and artist map. Throughout his career, YOSHIKI has worked on many projects including composing a song for the tenth anniversary of Emperor Akihito’s enthronement, creating the official theme song for the Golden Globe Awards, as well as a theme song for Attack on Titan anime. Last year, YOSHIKI made his directorial debut with a documentary film titled YOSHIKI: Under The Sky. The film features several live performances from several artists such as The Chainsmokers, HYDE, and SixTONES. The film will be streaming in March 2024 and on Amazon Prime Video in May 2024.
