Toyota announced that it will release a five-episode anime titled Grip which is set to release on February 26, 2024. The series is produced by produced by marketing agency, Intertrend, with supervising direction from Jae Woo Kim (Ben10: Omniverse). New episodes of Grip will be released weekly on the official website. Check out the teaser trailer below:

Grip will be a marketing stunt geared toward younger audiences that will showcase its Gazoo Racing motorsport division and other cars in the Toyota lineup. The main three cars the series will focus on include the: GR Corolla, GR Supra, and GR86. Intertrend Executive Director of Strategy/Creative Matthew Choy said to Variety that the series was inspired by other anime such as Initial D and that, “This series is not just [for] anime lovers and nerds, but also for anyone interested in watching a thrilling story unfold.” Viewers can already check out the 15-second preview of the first episode below:
Grip follows the story of the main character Jae King, a legendary racer, who teams up with other racers in an effort against Dr. Aron Synth, a former racer who is determined to push a world of self-driving cars after losing his hand in a race. The official website for Grip further describes the series as such:
GRIP is a high-octane original anime series that combines heart-pounding action, adrenaline-fueled races, and a battle between the human spirit and computer control. With their GR rides and unwavering determination, the GRIP team is the last hope for the spirit of driving.
