Mobile Suit Gundam Announces ALC ENCOUNTER New Anime Project

Mobile Suit Gundam has announced a new project titled ALC ENCOUNTER, and it is set to premiere on November 24. It will begin showing at the LaLaport Fukuoka shopping mall in Japan as a wall projection, with screenings taking place every day at 19:00/20:30. LaLaport Fukuoka is home to the life-sized statue of the Nu Gundam from Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack, which has been an attraction for Gundam fans since April 2022.

Studio SUNRISE is in charge of the animation, with Yoshiyuki Kaneko as the director. You can see the key visual for the project below.

Mobile Suit Gundam: ALC ENCOUNTER – New Anime Project Key Visual

The animation’s theme is described as “a Gundam no one has seen before.” It will feature a rhythmic song titled “HOT” by the duo illiomote, with a focus on dance scenes. The story:
A voice draws two destined individuals together for a showdown, awakening 1/12-scale statues of the Nu Gundam and Sazabi, leading to a fierce battle inside the mall.

Gundam is a Japanese mix-media franchise that focuses on mecha robots, created by SUNRISE and Yoshiyuki Tomino. The franchise officially premiered on April 7, 1979, with the Mobile Suit Gundam anime series. It is celebrating its 45th anniversary this year. In addition to the popular anime series and spin-offs, the franchise also has manga, novels, video games, and, of course, the popular toys.

The latest addition to the franchise was the Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance animated project. It was a a joint collaboration between SUNRISE and SAFEHOUSE, Inc, and it premiered on Netflix on October 17.
