The Sakamoto Days anime revealed a new trailer and key visual ahead of the January 2025 premiere date. The anime will broadcast in two split courts; the first one premieres on January 11 while the second one begins in July.
TMS Entertainment is animating the adaptation, while Netflix will be streaming it weekly. The opening theme song will be Vaundy’s “RUN SAKAMOTO RUN.”
Masaki Watanabe is directing the anime, with Taku Kishimoto on the series composition. Yo Moriyama is in charge of the character designs and Yuto Suzuki is doing the screenplay. The previously announced cast includes:

- Nobunaga Shimazaki as Shin Asakura
- Ayane Sakura as Lu Xiaotang
- Hina Kino as Hana Sakamoto
- Ryota Suzuki as Heisuke Mashimo
- Miyari Nemoto as Piisuke
- Nao Toyama as Aoi Sakamoto
- Natsuki Hanae as Nagumo
- Taku Yashiro as Shishiba
- Saori Hayami as Osaragi
The anime will adapt Yuto Suzuki’s Sakamoto Days (stylized as SAKAMOTO DAYS) manga, which has been serialized since 2020 in the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. VIZ Media licensed the Sakamoto Days manga in English and the series is also available on Shueisha’s Manga PLUS platform. The plot is described as:
Taro Sakamoto was once a legendary hitman considered the greatest of all time. Bad guys feared him! Assassins revered him! But then one day he quit, got married, and had a baby. He’s now living the quiet life as the owner of a neighborhood store, but how long can Sakamoto enjoy his days of retirement before his past catches up to him?!
