Undead Unluck new anime has announced that it will feature an original story with a new UMA. The 1-hour special anime was previously announced for ‘Winter 2025,’ while the English release clarified it to be ‘late 2025.’ The original story was written by the creator Yoshifumi Tozuka, and it will introduce the new UMA “Balance.” Tozuka made a special illustration of the UMA, which you can see below.
Studio David Production will be animating again, with the rest of the TV anime staff also returning for the new Undead Unluck anime special. It includes Yuki Yase as the director, Hideyuki Morioka as the character designer, and Kenichiro Suehiro as the music composer. UNLIMITED PRODUCE by TMS is producing.
Yoshifumi Tozuka, whom Anime Corner recently had the chance to interview, writes and draws the Undead Unluck manga. It is serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, with 23 released volumes as of October 2024. VIZ licensed the manga in English, describing the story:
What happens when an unlucky girl meets an undead guy? Pure chaos! Tired of inadvertently killing people with her special ability Unluck, Fuuko Izumo sets out to end it all. But when she meets Andy, a man who longs for death but can’t die, she finds a reason to live—and he finds someone capable of giving him the death he’s been longing for. All Fuuko wants is a whirlwind romance like the one in her favorite shojo manga. Unfortunately, her Unluck ability makes that impossible. But just as Fuuko hits rock bottom, Andy sweeps her off her feet—literally! Now she’s become Andy’s unwilling test subject as he works to find a way to trigger a stroke of Unluck big enough to kill him for good. However, when the pair discovers a secret organization is hunting them, it puts Andy’s burial plans on hold.
