Clockwork Girl, the first movie from Yasuomi Umetsu’s Virgin Punk original anime movie series, is scheduled to premiere in Japanese theaters on June 27, 2025. This project marks Umetsu’s return to the director’s seat after a decade, following his work on Wizard Barristers in 2014. Studio SHAFT, well-known for anime like Puella Magi Madoka Magica and the Monogatari series, is handling the animation.
Aniplex announced the movie series at the Aniplex Online Fest 2024 last year. You can check out the teaser trailer below.

The story follows Ubu, a young girl who decides to become a bounty hunter. The story delves into her personal struggles and the complex desires and chaos introduced by the powerful and eccentric individuals she meets. You can see Ubu in the previously-revealed teaser visual below.
