Yoshino Nanjo, the vocalist of the J-Pop duo fripSide is leaving the group. The information was announced on the band’s 20th anniversary, during the fripSide Special Program in Nico Nico Live. The group will have a virtual live event on January 8th and a tour in April 2022. There are no details yet about Nanjo’s replacement.
The group is performing the opening theme for the upcoming The Strongest Sage with the Weakest Crest anime. The title of the opening song is Leap of Faith. The anime begins airing in January 2022.
Yoshino Nanjo joined fripSide in 2009, after Nao, the original vocalist of the duo, left. The first song she performed was Only My Railgun, which was the opening theme of A Certain Scientific Railgun. The group also performed the themes for Black Bullet, Boarding School Juliet, Ajin, Seraph of the End, and more.
Aside from being a vocalist, Nanjo is also a voice actress at N3 Entertainment. She is famous for her role as Eli Ayase from the popular idol franchise Love Live!. Some of her other roles include Nio Hashiri from Akuma Riddle, Shirabe Tsukuyomi from Symphogear, and Kokoro Akechi from Tantei Opera Milky Holmes.
