Upcoming Kingdom Season 4 revealed the main trailer which features the theme song “Ray“ by SUIREN. The anime begins broadcasting on April 9.
Kenichi Imaizumi is directing the 4th season, while Noboru Takagi is overseeing series composition. Hisashi Abe is credited with character designs. Hiroyuki Sawano and Kohta Yamamoto are composing the music. The main cast from the previous seasons is returning and includes:
- Jun Fukuyama as Sei Ei/Ying Zheng
- Masakazu Morita as Shin Ri/Li Xin
- Rie Kugimiya as Karyo Ten/He Liao Diao
Kingdom is based on a shounen manga by Yasuhisa Hara, which started serialization in Weekly Young Jump in 2006. It currently has 708 chapters and 62. Sui Ishida, Tokyo Ghoul author, was involved in the project as Hara’s assistant. The anime adaptation by Pierrot and IKIF+ premiered in 2012. Pierrot animated the second season and was joined by St. Signpost on the third. The anime adaptation has had 106 episodes so far. Although it’s a long-running series the manga still hasn’t been licensed in English, but it has been officially licensed in French.
Crunchyroll is streaming the series and describes the plot as:
Shin and Hyou are war-orphans in the kingdom of Qin. They dream of proving themselves on the battlefield until the day Hyou is captured by a minister. The boy manages to escape and return to his village, but he is badly injured. Shin then meets a mysterious youth who bears an eerie resemblance to Hyou—a boy who will one day become emperor!
