One Piece‘s official YouTube channel posted on Thursday night a live performance of Uta performing the One Piece Film Red‘s theme song “New Genesis” at the National Stadium. The performance was held to commemorate the manga series’ 500 million circulating copy milestone, and it took place on the eve of the 104th volume’s release date, October 4. The channel describes the performance with “symbolizes the beginning of a new genesis.” They made the announcement on Wednesday without revealing the place of the stage as a secret, but with allusion and hints; the starting point and “0”.
Uta is Red-Haired Shanks’ daughter known as a diva in the One Piece world. Kaori Nazuka (Chelsea in Akame ga Kill! and Eureka in Eureka Seven) voiced the character. Ado was in charge of her singing voice in the film. You can watch the character’s live footage on the YouTube channel below:
One Piece Film Red is the series’ latest film adaptation which premiered on August 6, 2022 in Japan. The film has grossed over ¥17 billion (≒ $115 million) as of October 18 and continues to improve the record of One Piece films’ history. The movie will also hit theaters in the US and Canada on November 4.
