Hiro Mashima, known as the author of the Fairy Tail manga series, posted an illustration of Happy dressed in the Argentina national team’s uniform to congratulate them on winning the championship in the Qatar World Cup 2022 on Monday. Argentina had a 3-3 tie against France and won the match in a penalty-kick shootout at 4-2.
The newly-posted illustration shows a character from Fairy Tail, Happy wearing the light blue and white striped jersey of the Argentina National Team. Above him, “CONGRATULATIONS!” is written in big red letters.

Hiro Mashima has been active in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine for over 20 years, starting with Rave Master’s serialization from 1999 to 2005 (35 volumes), Fairy Tail’s decade-long run from 2006 to 2017 (63 volumes), and ongoing Edens Zero series from 2018. The Fairy Tail manga inspired anime adaptations, three TV anime seasons with a total of 328 episodes, and two film adaptations in 2012 and 2015v TV animes’ first season aired from 2009 to 2013 (175 episodes), second season from 2014 to 2016 (102 episodes), and the third season from 2018 to 2019 (51 episodes). Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest, a sequel to the Fairy Tail series, is currently being serialized with Mashina’s story and Atsuo Ueda’s art in Kodansha’s online magazine Magazine Pocket. Volume 13 was released in November 2022. The work is getting a TV anime project as announced last September. The manga creator joined the YouTube platform in June 2022 as the year marked the 25th anniversary since he made his debut in a magazine.
