Baki Hanma unveiled the opening for the second season which features “Beast” by Wagakki Band. The second season of the anime will release worldwide in two parts: “The Tale of Pickle & The Pickle War Saga,” which begins streaming on Wednesday, July 26, and “The Father VS Son Saga,” which releases on Thursday, August 24. Netflix is streaming the series.
In addition to Wagakki Band’s opening theme song, UPSTART will perform the ending song titled “WILDER.” TMS Entertainment is animating, and the staff includes Toshiki Hirano as the director, Tatsuhiko Urahata on the series composition, Shingo Ishikawa as the character designer, and Kenji Fujisawa on the music. Netflix describes the story as:
The Tale of Pickle & The Pickle War Saga
They revived a human who shouldn’t even exist; a prehistoric man so powerful, he once preyed on Jurassic dinosaurs — and Baki can’t wait to fight him.
The Father VS Son Saga
They revived a human who shouldn’t even exist; a prehistoric man so powerful, he once preyed on Jurassic dinosaurs — and Baki can’t wait to fight him.
The Baki Hanma anime is based on a manga Keisuke Itagaki wrote and illustrated. It ran from 1991 to 1999 in Weekly Shonen Champion, and was collected into 42 volumes. There were 3 sequel series, Baki, Baki Hanma and Baki-Dou, all of which ran in the same magazine. The 5th series, also titled Baki-Dou (but romanized differently), started in October 2018. The series first got an anime adaptation in 2001.
The latest adaptation began in 2018 with Baki, which ran for 26 episodes and was animated by Double Eagle and TMS Entertainment. Baki: The Great Raitai Tournament Saga followed in the Spring of 2020. Baki Hanma (also known as Baki: Son of Ogre) is the third installment of the reboot, and Baki Hanma Season 2 will be picking up right after the first season.
