On December 7, 2020, the anime adaptation of Hajime Isayama’s Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan) reached its fourth and final season. A couple of hours after its premiere in Japan, the episode with English subtitles was also released. The fans were very excited, both manga readers and not. However, the non-manga readers were shocked by some dark scenes, that never happened before in the previous seasons. Moreover, it contained graphic scenes that were not meant for kids. Attack on Titan seems to be getting darker than ever. It is necessary to remain composed to understand them.
Theo Magath, one of the military leaders of Marley, plans to sacrifice 800 Eldian people. They were going to charge at the enemy as suicide bombers. All that to destroy the railroad tracks and sabotage the armored train. The armored train had a firearm extension, its bullets can penetrate and terminate the armored titan. He doesn’t care for Eldian lives since He believes that they must repent for the sins of their Ancestors.
In Attack on Titan Season 3, Episode 20-21, it is clearly explained that the only people who can turn into a titan are the Eldians. That’s because the blood of Ymir (founder of the titans) is flowing in their veins. In the episode, it is said that Marleyans are creating Eldians into titans by injecting a titan serum that contains a titan’s spinal fluid. Though, in the first episode of Attack on Titan: The Final Season, a new form of titan creation was introduced. Zeke just let out a mighty roar and the Eldians who came off from their ship suddenly transformed into titans. What’s more he disregarded the fact that they are his own people, which makes the scene sadder and darker.
There are so many questions on how this happened. Is this connected to what happened in Connie’s village in Attack on Titan Season 2? Well, we’re going to know more about this in future episodes. Although one thing is certain, Zeke knows some sort of titan transformation technique.
A warfare strategy courtesy of Marley has been planned for their success, as mentioned above, a number of Eldians were transformed into pure titans, they did it because of this sole purpose. Their strategy was to bombard the enemies’ base with a number of pure titans to destroy it. In the past three seasons, the only thing we see is a running titan hunting for its prey, which is dark in its own nature. However, in this first episode of the final season, we saw a titan crashing from above, destroying buildings, and walls, killing the people on its way down, which is way darker than a normal titan approach.
It really seems that Attack on Titan is getting darker than ever.
Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan) is a manga series by Hajime Isayama. The upcoming 32nd volume will be the last one. Its anime adaptation aired last April 7, 2013. Not only that, but it is one of the most influential anime in the world and its final season is one of the most awaited anime this year, resulting in the crash of Crunchyroll and Funimation on the day of its release.
