In the Meiji era, Satoko Kirigaya is the daughter of a distinguished family, but her poor health has left her with little time to live. Determined to marry into a respectable household and make her father proud, her plans are shattered when she is suddenly kidnapped. Cornered by the dangerous assassin Shinpei Goto, Satoko makes a desperate proposal to survive: marry her. What begins as a lie becomes increasingly complicated when Shinpei takes her offer, and his feelings for her, very seriously.
