Doloris from Ave Mujica Covers “A Cruel Angel’s Thesis”

BanG Dream! released a cover of “A Cruel Angel’s Thesis” by Doloris from Ave Mujica. The song was originally performed by Yoko Takahashi and was used as the opening theme song for the Neon Genesis Evangelion anime. It was also covered previously by Roselia, another band from the BanG Dream! franchise.

“A Cruel Angel’s Thesis” by Doloris from Ave Mujica

Ave Mujica is a band from the BanG Dream! and the members consist of:

  • Sakiko Togawa/Obivionis (voiced by Kanon Takao)
  • Uika Misumi/Doloris (voiced by Rico Sasaki)
  • Mutsumi Wakaba/Mortis (voiced by Yuzuki Watase)
  • Nyamu Yutenji/Amoris (voiced by Akane Yonezawa)
  • Umiri Yahata/Timoris (voiced by Mei Okada)

The band also starred in their own anime titled Ave Mujica: The Die is Cast. It premiered in January 2025 and was animated by Sanzigen under the direction of Kodai Kakimoto. The anime ranked 5th in Anime Corner’s Winter 2025 Anime of the Season Rankings. A movie is also set to be released on October 16 and the story will take place six months after the band’s comeback. A sequel to the TV anime will begin in January 2027.

 The overall synopsis of the Ave Mujica anime is as follows:
“Will you give me the rest of your life?”
After losing everything in a single night, Sakiko Togawa reaches out toward an even deeper abyss, one that will drag everyone around her down as well.
Gathering the lives of girls burdened with their own troubles and desires, Sakiko raises the curtain on a perfect masquerade.
