Yoshihiro Togashi, the author of Hunter x Hunter, tweeted for the first time in seven months and shared a new photo of his drawing setup. The tweet is captioned “Start over,” implying that Togashi has started working on the Hunter x Hunter manga again. After the tweet, the author began trending in Japan.
The tweet also appears to be a reference to the J-pop group Sakurazaka46’s song “Start Over,” which was recently used in the Shonen Jump collaboration. Togashi is known to be a long-term fan of the idol group. “Start Over” is a song from their most recent album, also titled Start Over!.
The last chapter of the series was chapter 400, titled “Secrecy”, which was released back in December 2022. It was also announced that Hunter x Hunter manga will no longer be published in the Weekly Shonen Jump. Togashi has been struggling with health issues for years which led to multiple hiatus during the manga’s serialization. The new publication details have not been revealed yet.
Hunter x Hunter began serialization in 1998 in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump. It has been on hiatus since November 2018. Togashi has been struggling with health issues related to back pain in recent years; he even drew diagrams to explain how to properly pick up things when you drop them to avoid injury.
