New Higurashi Manga "Jun" to Have a Different Answers Arc

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, also known as Higurashi: When They Cry, is getting a new manga series this October. Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Jun will follow the story in the newest anime adaptations, Gou and Sotsu, but it will reconstruct it into a story with a different ending.

Manga version of Higurashi Gou by Akase Tomato, serialized in Young Ace Up, ended on September 24, 2021. The final chapter came with a teaser for the new story:

Based on “Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Gou” and ” Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Sotsu”, Akase Tomato creates a “different ending arc” from the one in the TV anime.

In addition to the statement, a release date was announced. Jun will begin serialization in October, 2021.

The manga artist, Akase Tomato tweeted with a sketch of Furude Rika:

“Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Jun” has been announced!
I’ll try my hardest so that you can continue enjoying the new Higurashi even after Gou and Sotsu!!

The creator of Higurashi visual novel, 07th Expansion also commented:

I appreciate your support for Higurashi Jun!

Natsumi Kei, the author of Umineko no Naku Koro ni episodes 1, 2, and 8, shared her passion with a tomato emoji:

I can hardly wait to read Higurashi Jun

Suzuragi Karin, the manga artist of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Onikakushi arc, Tsumihoroboshi arc, Matsuri Bayashi arc, and Saigoroshi arc mentioned the final chapter with a surprise:

It’s going to have a different ending arc from the TV…!

In addition, Momoyama Hinase, the author of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai Minagoroshi arc, Umineko no Naku Koro ni Episode 6, retweeted the tweet above and expressed excitement:

Σ(・ω・) I’m wondering what the manga version is going to have (っ•ᴗ•c)ワクワク

Tonogai Yoshiki, the creator of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Himatsubushi arc also praised the work:

If you have been watching Higurashi Sotsu but haven’t checked out Akase-sensei’s manga version, I want you to start, even with this chapter!

After the outpour of support, Akase Tomato once again tweeted to express the happiness:

I can’t be any happier that the artists of Higurashi’s manga adaptations I used to enjoy as a reader look forward [to the new manga]… I will work hard!!!!

Higurashi

Originally a visual novel from 2002 by 07th Expansion doujin circle, Higurashi received its first anime adaptation in 2006. Studio DEEN animated it and it ran for 3 seasons, while also having side stories.

In 2020, studio Passione announced a new Higurashi adaptation, titled Gou. Sotsu, which was a direct sequel, followed in 2021.
