The upcoming Love Live game Love Live School Idol Festival 2 MIRACLE LIVE revealed on Thursday that it will be ending its service on May 31, 2024. The pre-registrations were also opened a few minutes after the closure announcement of the game that is set to release in February.
The news has stirred a wave of discontent among fans, with some questioning the point behind releasing a game featuring in-app purchases only to terminate its services shortly after. Others question if this was the first gacha game to announce its release date and end-of-service date on the same day. Some resort to humor, suggesting that if players become school idols maybe they can save the game which parallels the plot of three love live generations.
Despite the backlash, the developers of the game mentioned that they appreciate the love and support the fans have shown, and they promise to commit to making the last few months an unforgettable moment.
LOVE LIVE School Idol Festival 2 MIRACLE LIVE was initially revealed at the SIF Series Thanksgiving Festival 2022. It was advertised that every song from the Love Live! series will be playable (solo and remix tracks are excluded) and each of the four groups will have their own story in the game.
