The preview for The Apothecary Diaries episode 22 is now out. With consort Gyokuyou’s pregnancy on the way, Maomao now spends her days peacefully at the Jade Palace. One day, however, Jinshi tells her that a blue rose is needed for the next garden party. Maomao figures that it is Lakan behind this difficult task, so she takes up the challenge of making a blue rose bloom out of season. The episode is titled “Blue Roses” and it will air on March 9 Saturday, at 24:55 JST, while the English subtitled versions come out an hour later. See the episode 22 preview images below:

The Apothecary Diaries is a Japanese light novel series written by Natsu Hyuga and illustrated by Toko Shino. Shunfunotomo’s Hero Bunko currently publishes the light novel series, J-Novel Club publishes the digital English version, and Square Enix publishes the novels in print. The series also has two manga adaptations: the manga series of the same name by Itsuki Nanao, illustrated by Nekokurage on Square Enix’s Monthly Big Gangan; and “Kusuriya no Hitorigoto: Maomao no Kokyu Nazotoki Techo (The Apothecary Diaries: The Palace Cloister Mystery-Solving Notebook of Maomao)” by Minoji Kurata on Shogakukan’s Monthly Sunday Gene-X.
TOHO Animation and OML are currently animating The Apothecary Diaries series, which is set to have a total of 24 episodes. The ongoing series, which is currently on its 21st episode, is available to watch on Netflix and Crunchyroll in select regions. Crunchyroll describes the plot:
Maomao lived a peaceful life with her apothecary father. Until one day, she’s sold as a lowly servant to the emperor’s palace. But she wasn’t meant for a compliant life among royalty. So when imperial heirs fall ill, she decides to step in and find a cure! This catches the eye of Jinshi, a handsome palace official who promotes her.
