SAKAMOTO DAYS anime has revealed additional 6 voice cast members, revealing short video trailers for the new characters. Studio TMS Entertainment is animating, with Masaki Watanabe as the director. The adaptation was announced in May and is set to premiere in January 2025.
The protagonist Taro Sakamoto is voiced by Tomokazu Sugita, well known for his roles as Gintoki Sakata in Gintama, Escanor in The Seven Deadly Sins, Gyomei Himejima in Demon Slayer, among many others. The newly announced voice cast members for the SAKAMOTO DAYS anime include:
- Nobunaga Shimazaki as Shin Asakura
- Ayane Sakura as Lu Xiaotang
- Nao Toyama as Aoi Sakamoto
- Hina Kino as Hana Sakamoto
- Ryota Suzuki as Heisuke Mashimo
- Miyari Nemoto as Piisuke
Shin Asakura is a former subordinate of Sakamoto who has the ability to read minds. You can see his character design and short trailer below.
Lu Xiaotang is a former mafia member now working at Sakamoto’s store.
Aoi Sakamoto and Hana Sakamoto are is Sakamoto’s wife and daughter.
Heisuke Mashimo is a skilled sniper recognized by Sakamoto, while Piisuke is his bird spotter.
Besides the director Masaki Watanabe, the SAKAMOTO DAYS anime staff includes Yo Moriyama as the character designer, Yuto Suzuki in charge of the screenplay and Taku Kishimoto in charge of the series composition.
SAKAMOTO DAYS is a Japanese manga by Yuto Suzuki. It has been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine since 2020. There are currently 176 chapters, with 17 published volumes as of June 4, 2024. Volume 18 is set to release on August 2. VIZ Media licensed the manga in English, and they describe the story:
Taro Sakamoto was once a legendary hitman considered the greatest of all time. Bad guys feared him! Assassins revered him! But then one day he quit, got married, and had a baby.
