Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya Gets English Manga Omnibus in February 2025

Seven Seas Entertainment has announced the license acquisition of Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya manga, written and illustrated by Hiroshi Hiroyama. The manga series is an alternate-universe spin-off from TYPE-MOON’s Fate/stay night visual novel, and instead follows elementary schooler Illyasviel “Illya” von Einzbern as she becomes a magical girl and fights to collect all seven “Class Cards” that contain the spirits of legendary Heroic Spirits.

The manga series has been serialized in Kadokawa Shoten since 2007, containing two volumes for the first series, five volumes for the sequel Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya 2wei! and, at the time of writing, fourteen volumes in the third series, Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya 3rei!!. The series is largely intended as a magical girl parody of Fate/stay night, with Shirou Emiya characterized as the popular guy for girls’ affections, and Illya at the center of yuri fanservice between herself and Chloe von Einzbern, a girl who acts as the antagonistic reflection of Illya (similar to her original role in Fate/stay night).

Studio Silver Link has adapted the manga into four seasons of anime, with Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya airing in 2013, followed by Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya 2wei! and Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya 2wei! Herz! in 2014 and 2015 respectively. Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya 3rei!! aired in 2016. All seasons of the show have been directed by Shin Oonuma and Masato Jinbo, with production by Junichirou Tamura and Ai Matsuki. Most recently, the series went to the big screen to celebrate ten years of the anime, with Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya: Licht – The Nameless Girl; a sequel was announced in 2023.

Seven Seas Entertainment describes the manga series below:

Illya might be rich, but she’s just like any other elementary school girl—she has a secret crush and loves magical girl anime. But when a magical “Kaleidostick” wand named Ruby tricks her into signing a contract, Illya becomes a magical girl herself! Illya’s peaceful days might be over, but her fight to save the world has only just begun.
