Too Many Losing Heroines Season 2 Officially Announced

Too Many Losing Heroines (Makeine) is officially getting a Season 2 anime, as announced in a trailer. The announcement was made at a special event attended by Shuichiro Umeda, Hikaru Tono, Shion Wakayama, Momoka Terasawa, and Minami Tanaka that was held on April 6. The release date is yet to be announced.

A-1 Pictures animated the first season and was directed by Shotaro Kitamura, with scripts written by Masahiro Yokotani, characters designed by Tetsuya Kawakami, and music composed by Kana Utatane. The first season ran for 12 episodes from July to September 2024, with the finale being an anime-original episode. The main voice cast for the anime consists of:

• Shuichiro Umeda as Kazuhiko Nukumizu
• Hikaru Tono as Anna Yanami
• Shion Wakayama as Lemon Yakishio
• Momoka Terasawa as Chika Komari

The anime is based on a light novel series written by Takibi Amamori and illustrated by Imigimuru. There is also a short story collection and a manga adaptation by Itachi. Seven Seas Entertainment licensed both the light novel and manga and they describe the former as follows:
Plain, boring, and friendless Nukumizu Kazuhiko has witnessed something completely baffling: popular girl Yanami Anna was friend-zoned by her childhood friend and crush! In fact, all the popular girls around him are getting similarly rejected by the boys they like. Without realizing it, Kazuhiko becomes entangled in the relationship drama where all the leading heroines are losing out on love! Can he keep their spirits up and help them find happiness?

Too Many Losing Heroines was the runner-up in our Summer 2024 Anime Awards, with only Days with My Stepsister ranking above it. Anna Yanami was voted the Best Girl of the season, while Kazuhiko Nukumizu won Best Boy. The anime also won Best Character Design, with Hikaru Tono (Anna’s voice actress) being voted as the best female seiyuu.
