Jujutsu Kaisen Episode 20: Satoru Gojo Heads Out

Episode 20 of Jujutsu Kaisen came out this Friday, and Gojo reminded us just how overpowered he is! The first half of the episode was the Hanami vs Toudou & Yuuji. The animation was great as usual, and best brother unleashed his Boogie Woogie technique. It caught the Cursed Spirit off guard, and they started winning with the instant swaps and their teamwork. One of the glorious claps:

We got a glimpse of Hanami through a flash back. It was to note that he managed to use Black Flash 4 times in a row, which is extremely hard (even 2 in a row are apparently very rare. However, Yuuji then linked 4 himself, and maybe even a 5th one though it didn’t seem to connect.

Near the end of the fight, they forced Hanami to use the last trump card (left hand) and it was about to unleash a powerful attack. I was already thinking about making Toudou’s technique the title of the article, but then Gojou happened. Just as Hanami was about to attack, the veil went down. We saw the overpowered sensei flying in the sky without his mask, and the Spirits all knew they should retreat.

Beatiful

He went to the guy that wanted to make a coat hanger out of him and destroyed all his limbs in a second. Then he used his Hollow Purple ability and erased Hanami and the entire area in a linear blast. Though I doubt the Spirit is really dead and they seem to have stolen Sukuna’s finger, it just showed how insanely strong Gojou is again. It will be impossible for their plans to ever work while he’s there, so it will be interesting to see how they move going forward.

The episode ended the fight and likely the first round of the tournament. The next one shows the character playing baseball, so that might be the theme of the 2nd round. The title of episode 20 is “Jujutsu Koshien”, and it will premiere on March 2 (or 3 depending on timezone).

If you enjoyed episode 20, you can vote Jujutsu Kaisen as the best show on our weekly poll (it ranked 2nd last week)! And if you haven’t started it yet, the story goes:

Although Yuji Itadori looks like your average teenager, his immense physical strength is something to behold! Every sports club wants him to join, but Itadori would rather hang out with the school outcasts in the Occult Research Club. One day, the club manages to get their hands on a sealed cursed object. Little do they know the terror they’ll unleash when they break the seal…

The manga, written and illustrated by Akutami Gege, recently surpassed 30 million circulating copies (also including digital release)! It has been serialized since March 2018, which is a pretty short amount of time for such a big number. It will likely grow even more alongside the anime adaptation too.
