Popular YouTuber CoryxKenshin has launched his MONSTERS WE MAKE manga, with Volume 1 already available for sale. The YouTuber returned from his hiatus earlier this week after almost a a year-and-a-half-long hiatus and teased the new project with an animated trailer by studio The Line.
The main goal is to tell a rich, original, thought-provoking story that is positive. He also says that a good ending must follow, with a future anime adaptation as one of the ultimate goals. He jokes about not being able to just go up to MAPPA, but that he needs to have the logistics and a story that will be interesting. Cory also jokingly (or??) mentions Crunchyroll and Netflix, saying that whoever wants to put in theirs bids should do it early.
Talking about the future anime, he says that, if it were to make it to that stage, he’d want it to have the most peak (“PEAKKKKK”) fight sequences. He talked about being a huge fan of Dragon Ball as a child, and how was always thinking about fight choreographies. Finally, CoryxKenshin adds that fans of horror and action will like MONSTERS WE MAKE.
The story of MONSTERS WE MAKE is described:
In the year 2114, the world hides its darkest secrets behind the glow of neon.
Jabari Booker, a 17-year-old gifted musician, enters New Edyn Academy expecting to refine his talents. Instead, he’s plunged into a waking nightmare. The academy, a supposed sanctuary for students born during The Eternal Night, is training its students for a more sinister purpose—killing monsters. Citizens, including his classmates, are mutating into vicious creatures, twisted by the dark secrets of SANADA, a global tech giant pulling the strings.
Jabari and his newfound allies are thrust into the ranks of expendable soldiers known as HOUNDS. Together, they must endure a brutal monster onslaught, expose SANADA’s hidden agenda, and confront the darkness within themselves.
As the line between human and monster blurs, one question haunts them: Who are the real monsters?
