Ave Mujica -The Die Cast- Episode 5 is out now on Crunchyroll and Muse Asia. This article will contain heavy spoilers from the episode.
They actually did it. Ave Mujica -The Die Cast- Episode 5 has officially confirmed that the band has disbanded (at least, for now, right?). While I don’t believe this breakup is permanent (after all we still have seven episodes left), I think this is a much-needed turning point. I’d much rather see the band fall apart now than watch each member slowly break down, leaving Ave Mujica as nothing more than a collection of mentally ill individuals.
That said, I really appreciated how this episode gave us a glimpse of the members outside the band. Watching them engage in mundane, everyday activities provided a rare moment of calm. A welcomed breather after four episodes of relentless tension. However, Episode 5 was far from lighthearted. The drama was still as heavy as ever because Ave Mujica -The Die Cast- never misses when it comes to that.
Now that the band has disbanded, each member has drifted into their own separate lives. Uika still has Sumimi, Umiri is keeping busy with her other bands, and Nyamu continues clawing her way to the top of the entertainment world. But out of all of them, I feel the worst for Umiri; she’s the only one who still seems to genuinely care about the others, especially Sakiko.
And speaking of Sakiko, this episode did an incredible job of showcasing how she’s trying to move on from something that once meant the world to her. Watching her navigate life without Ave Mujica was heartbreaking as if we were witnessing someone trying to fill the void left behind by a dream that crumbled before their eyes.
It perfectly portrays what I felt in the aftermath of the band’s disbandment—utterly speechlessness. Watching Sakiko go through the motions of daily life, silent and detached, was heartbreaking. That one scene where she does her homework with a TV program featuring Nyamu playing in the background hit especially hard. It’s as if she’s trying to move on, but all she’s left with is an overwhelming numbness. Ave Mujica is over, and to her, everything just is what it is.
Despite her blank expressions, the weight of her emotions is painfully clear. Not even Uika, her father, her grandfather, or even Morfonica could get a single word out of her. She’s broken.
With every member shattered yet slowly moving on, Ave Mujica seems far from getting back together. Each girl is on her own path now, and for a moment, it feels like this really might be the end. But of course, it doesn’t just stop here. How do you bring back what’s broken? You need lost girls to fix them all.
Enter the MyGo members who I thought would be the savior but nope. They came here not to heal, but to stir things up even more. And honestly, I love where this narrative is heading. The chaos, the tension, the uncertainty, it’s all building up to something incredible. It makes perfect sense that MyGo would be the one to push Ave Mujica forward again.
After all, I never saw MyGo as Ave Mujica’s rival. Both bands have their own unique styles, but within the BanG Dream universe, Ave Mujica is already leagues ahead in popularity. Even Anon who is one of MyGo’s core looks up to them. That alone speaks volumes and this was never a true rivalry to begin with.
Both Tomori and Soyo’s actions prove just how much they still care for their former bandmates. Anon’s actions to approach Sakiko was also an amazing move from her despite them having barely any history together. While I can understand Soyo reaching out to Mutsumi (seriously, at this point, does she have a death wish?), Tomori’s move completely caught me off guard.
Asking Sakiko to join a band while she was already in one was something I never saw coming. And what makes it even crazier? Anon was right there when it happened. The same Anon who once wanted nothing more than to form a band with Tomori, which ultimately became MyGo.
Whether Tomori was suggesting a new band, reviving Crychic, or somehow bringing Sakiko into MyGo remains unclear. But she was bold enough to extend a lifeline to her friend in need, even if it meant shaking things up in a way no one expected.
And of course, that’s where the episode leaves us. Another cliffhanger and we’re left to speculate what happens next.
Will Sakiko accept Tomori’s offer? Or will she lash out, seeing it as nothing more than foolishness? How will Anon process what she just witnessed? And more importantly… is Soyo still alive after approaching Mutsumi? Who knows. It may have been the “calmest” Ave Mujica -The Die Cast- episode so far, but make no mistake because it was still absolutely insane.
