That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (Tensura) author Fuse commented in the afterword of the latest light novel volume on not being allowed to finish the latest volume and said he plans to end the story this year. Volume 22 of the light novel released on January 30, with the comments coming in its afterword. Having come over a year after the previous volume (Volume 21 released on October 30, 2023), Fuse began the afterword with an apology for the long wait.

He explains that he wanted to wrap everything up nicely, and that he strongly insisted on finishing the whole thing before publishing, even if it had to be a two-part release. However, he was rejected with “If we wait for that, who knows when it’ll be done.” He also commented that he felt the “ruthless side of the industry” due to the commercial side taking priority. Since he had to push the conclusion of the volume’s story to the next volume, he said he hopes to finish writing it this year.

Fuse had previously said he planned to finish the story in Volume 22, so he also commented on the wrong prediction. Part of the reason is that he “kept thinking of more episodes that I wanted to include,” which he said might happen again for the final volume in a follow-up post on his Shosetsuka ni Naro blog. In the worst case, he plans to fill in any gaps with extra side stories after the conclusion. You can read his message below.

It’s been a while!
Today, multiple releases have come out at the same time!!

So, about the main series.
As I previously mentioned, the conclusion has been postponed.
But I have a feeling I might be able to wrap it up in the next volume!

Since nothing is set in stone, I can’t say for sure,
but at the very least, I’ll do my best to make it an enjoyable work!!

Since it’s the final volume, I’m already nervous that I might forget to include something (lol).
At worst, I plan to fill in any gaps with extra side stories after the conclusion,
so if there’s anything you’re curious about, feel free to leave a comment!

Of course, I’d also love to hear your thoughts!!
I’d also appreciate any feedback about the comics and spin-offs.

Well then, until next time~!!

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: The Movie – Scarlet Bond premiered in 2022. Season 4 and Movie 2 are currently in production, while Crunchyroll is streaming both the first movie and three TV seasons.

The story follows Rimuru, former corporate salaryman Mikami Satoru who got isekaid and reincarnated as a slime. He ended up getting some rather overpowered skills, which have gotten him to the point of founding his own nation and trying to make peace for all monsters in the new world. However, there are multiple people who see him as a threat, and he will do everything to protect himself and his new-found friends from foes, regardless from which world they come from.
