Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc revealed a new key visual, spotlighting Denji facing off Bomb Girl. The anime movie is set to premiere in Japan on September 19, with international release dates beginning from September 24.
Studio MAPPA is handling the animation once again, with Tatsuya Yoshihara taking over as director from Season 1’s Ryu Nakayama. The first trailer for the movie was revealed at Jump Festa ’25 in December, while you can see the new visual below.
Among the returning anime staff from Season 1 are Masato Nakazono as an assistant director (was chief episode director), Hiroshi Seko as the screenwriter, Kazutaka Sugiyama as the character designer and Kensuke Ushio as the music composer. The main voice cast consists of Kikunosuke Toya as Denji, Reina Ueda as Reze, Shiori Izawa as Pochita, Tomori Kusunoki as Makima, Shogo Sakata as Aki Hayakawa, and Fairouz Ai as Power. Character visuals for most of the main cast were revealed at Anime Japan in March.
Tatsuki Fujimoto writes and draws the Chainsaw Man manga, which has been split into two parts: the second part has been ongoing since July 2023. MangaPLUS app is publishing it in English: all chapters are available to read for free while using the app. Viz Media is in charge of physical releases and describes the plot as:
Denji’s a poor young man who’ll do anything for money, even hunting down devils with his pet devil Pochita. He’s a simple man with simple dreams, drowning under a mountain of debt. But his sad life gets turned upside down one day when he’s betrayed by someone he trusts. Now with the power of a devil inside him, Denji’s become a whole new man—Chainsaw Man!
MAPPA channel describes the plot of The Reze Arc movie as:
Denji became “Chainsaw Man”, a boy with a devil’s heart, and is now part of Special Division 4’s devil hunters. After a date with Makima, the woman of his dreams, Denji takes shelter from the rain. There he meets Reze, a girl who works in a café.
