Over the years, the manga has inspired multiple spin-offs, including Kanna’s Daily LifeElma’s Office Lady DiaryLucoa is My XX, and Fafnir the Recluse, all of which were serialized in Monthly Action before moving to Web Action.

Kyoto Animation adapted Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid into an anime in 2017, with Yasuhiro Takemoto serving as director. Tragically, Takemoto passed away in the 2019 arson attack on Kyoto Animation, a devastating event that impacted the anime industry worldwide.

Despite the loss, Kyoto Animation honored Takemoto’s legacy by continuing the adaptation. The second season, Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S, aired in 2021 with Tatsuya Ishihara directing, while Takemoto was credited posthumously. The second season was voted as the Best Anime of the Season for Summer 2021.
