Spira Spica’s vocalist, Mikiha, performed the opening theme song of My Dress-Up Darling Season 1, “Sun Sun Days,” on The First Take. The artist will also return in the anime’s sequel to sing the opening theme song “Ao to Kirameki,” which is slated to premiere on July 5.
CloverWorks animated the 12-episode first season, which premiered in January 2022. Keisuke Shinohara, who directed the first season, returns in Season 2 along with the main staff members: series composer Yoriko Tomita, character designers Yusuke Yamamoto and Kazumasa Ishida, and music composer Takeshi Nakatsuka. The voice cast will also reprise their roles:
- Hina Suguta as Marin Kitagawa
- Shoya Ishige as Wakana Gojo
- Atsumi Tanezaki as Sajuna Inui
- Hina Youmiya as Shinju Inui
The anime is adapted from the manga series by Shinichi Fukuda, which ran from January 2018 until March 2025 with a total of 14 volumes. Square Enix is publishing it in English, and they describe it as follows:
A high school boy with a passion for traditional dolls and a talent for sewing gets roped into making cosplay outfits for one of the prettiest, most popular girls in his class! As the odd couple grows ever closer, they find themselves in ever racier situations!
