Vivy: Fluorite Eye’s Song episode 3 released this Saturday, and it continued to deliver on the high expectations from its debut. It started with un unexpected 15-year timeskip. Vivy can now attract a much bigger crowd, and things have moved forward regarding the AIs. However, Matsumoto randomly appears again, saying he was absent to avoid altering something unnecessary, but that it’s time to work again. Of course, WIT Studio gave us more of Vivy’s eyes, showing the beautiful animation for Fluorite Eye’s Song again in episode 3:
Moving on, the task this time was to stop a hotel flying in space from crashing. She meets the owner Estella, who Matsumoto says is the culprit. It’s interesting that meeting the 3 caretakers was in one of the ‘flashbacks’ or ‘flashforwards’ back in episode 1. When the scientist was about to press the button, we saw a scene that happened in today’s episode, and here’s the comparison:
Vivy can’t believe that the caretaker Estella is the culprit since it seems too nice and caring, so she even stops Matsumoto from destroying her with a virus. She hears the backstory about the previous owner, and chooses to believe it. She also saw her playing with children and being overall too kind, even though Leclerc warned her to be careful. In the end, we saw that there is something suspicious going on, as Estella destroyed Leclerc after receiving some chip.
It was handled beautifully, especially with the song by Estella playing in the background. She seemingly hugged Leclerc, and then detached her head as the music stopped. Worth noting that there were no OP or ED scenes for episode 3, and we got a Vivy song at start/Estella at end instead. The next episode will already show Estella revealing herself and engaging in a fight with Vivy, and it will definitely get even more serious. There’s also Yuzuka, the little sister of Kirishima Momoka, the girl who died in the plane accident. It’s a weird coincidence, though Vivy will definitely want to stop her from suffering a similar fate as her older sister.
Vivy: Fluorite Eye’s Song episode 3 is now available on Funimation, and you can also read their synopsis:
NiaLand is an A.I. theme park that brings dreams to life with science. Vivy, the first autonomous android to work there, has hopes of making people happy with her singing. One day, an A.I. teddy bear named Matsumoto appears, claiming to have come from 100 years in the future—where a war between A.I. and humans rages. Their century-long journey starts now!
After episode 3, the next one will premiere on Saturday on April 17, and its title will be “Ensemble for Polaris – Our Promise”. Vivy will surely go through some difficulties, and this anime, again, is one you should not sleep on!
