The upcoming second Super Mario animated movie sequel titled The Super Mario Galaxy Movie revealed Yoshi in a new trailer. The animated movie is set to premiere in Japan on April 24, while it will hit international theaters earlier starting on April 1. The first movie started screening internationally 3 weeks earlier than Japan (April 7, 2023) as well.

As previously announced, the film is co-produced by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri and Nintendo representative director Shigeru Miyamoto, with Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic directing. Matthew Fogel is in charge of the screenplay. You can watch the new trailer below.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie – New Trailer Introducing Yoshi

The movie is the third feature film adaptation of the popular video game franchise, and the English/Japanese voice cast includes:

  • Princess Peach: Anya Taylor-Joy / Arisa Shida
  • Luigi: Charlie Day / Tasuku Hatanaka
  • Bowser: Jack Black / Kenta Miyake

The first movie was a huge hit, and its opening broke the record for the highest earning animated movie opening in history. Prior adaptations for Super Mario were the 1986 anime film Super Mario Bros.: The Great Mission to Rescue Princess Peach! and the 1993 live-action film Super Mario Bros.
