From Overshadowed to Overpowered Brings Twice the Isekai in July

If you were worried that summer would somehow be devoid of isekai anime, FRET NOT! The anime adaptation of the From Overshadowed to Overpowered: Second Reincarnation of a Talentless Sage light novel premieres this July. The anime’s production team released a visual, a website, and cast details alongside the announcement.

Studio EMT Squared (Train to the End of the World) will animate the adaptation. Hisashi Ishii will direct the anime. Deko Akao is the show’s screenwriter, and Hideki Furukawa is the character designer. From Overshadowed to Overpowered’s lead voice cast includes

• Shuichirou Umeda (Kyu in Wash It All Away) as Ephtal
• Haruka Shitaishi (Luna in Champignon Witch) as Merlin
• Reo Osanai (Dot in Mashle) as Anastasia

From Overshadowed to Overpowered: Second Reincarnation of a Talentless Sage was originally published as a Shosetsuka ni Naru web novel by Arata Sgiraishi in 2018. Kadokawa acquired the series the following year and began publishing it as a light novel under their Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko with illustrations by Denim Uo. The light novel ran for eight volumes. Kentaro adapted the series into a manga titled Rakudai Kenja no Gakuin Musō: Futatabime no Tensei, S-Rank Cheat Majutsu-shi Bōken-roku in 2019. Square Enix’s Manga UP! serializes the manga and publishes the English translation.

Once he was a modern-day Japanese dude, but then he died and was reincarnated in a magical fantasy world. Unfortunately for him, he sucked at magic and died before he could master it. But the gods really like him, so he gets reincarnated again 400 years later! And this time around, luck was on his side (kinda).
