The Rascal Does Not Dream light novel series was written by Hajime Kamoshida, while Keji Mizoguchi drew the illustrations for it. ASCII Media Works began publishing it under their Dengeki Bunko imprint in April 2014, releasing a total of 15 volumes. The final volume was released on October 10, 2024, marking the end of the novel after 10 years of serialization.
The entire anime adaptation so far has been animated by CloverWorks. It includes the Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai TV anime (covering volumes 1-5), as well as the previous three sequel movies. They are Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl (volumes 6-7), Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out (Volume 8), and Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid (Volume 9). The second TV anime season covered Volumes 10-13, while the Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dear Friend movie will adapt the rest.
