The Laid-Off Cheat-Granting Mage Enjoys a Second Lease on Life has revealed its first teaser trailer, teaser visual, main cast, and staff ahead of its October 2026 premiere. The anime was announced in February.
Animated by P.A.WORKS, the fantasy series follows Rein Garland, an enchantment mage who is expelled from his guild despite spending years strengthening their equipment. As it goes, after reclaiming every enhancement he had placed on his former comrades’ gear, Rein sets off on a new adventure and discovers the true potential of his abilities.
The new trailer introduces the voice cast, including:
- Daiki Yamashita as Rein Garland, the protagonist
- Lynn as Lily Flambert, S-rank adventurer
- Yoshino Aoyama as Margaret Els
- Miyu Tomita as Mirabelle
- Megumi Han as Elsie Sora
- Konomi Kohara as Nina
- Nobuhiko Okamoto as Hanbun
- Makoto Furukawa as Cornelius
- Rie Shibata as the Mother of Assassins
The anime is directed by Shu Honma at P.A.WORKS. Series composition is handled by Yoko Yonaiyama, while Tadahito Kiyosawa will serve as the character designer and co-chief animation director alongside Masami Gohda, who also handles gag and sub-character designs.
The anime will adapt the manga version illustrated by Gyomuyomochi, which has become notable for diverging significantly from Rokushima’s original light novels. K-Manga has the manga available in English, describing the story:
Rein the Enchanter is a support mage with the ability to enhance weapons and armor. But when he gets fired from his guild for the simple reason that he’s already enchanted everything they own, he decides to take the power back into his own hands—literally! Rein recalls every enchantment he ever put on his guildmates’ gear, retrieving the bonus points for himself. But does he really not have anything better to enchant with them than some Plain Clothes and a Copper Sword…? Come along on a cheat-tier journey from the most common of common origins!
The Laid-Off Cheat-Granting Mage Enjoys a Second Lease on Life is scheduled to premiere in October 2026.
Studio P.A. WORKS’ recent anime adaptations include Dealing with Mikadono Sisters Is a Breeze and Skip and Loafer, while some of their recent original works include Mayonaka Punch, Food for the Soul, and last season’s Dusk Beyond the End of the World. The studio’s founder, Kenji Horikawa, also spoke about the difficulties of creating original works as compared to adaptations, saying “But, if the current situation continues, I feel a sense of crisis that even if we all want to, we might forget how to make an original work.“
