Live-Action Gundam Film Reveals First Concept Art

Live-action Gundam film finally has a first piece of concept art available. The information came during the second day of the Netflix Festival Japan 2021. The film will be a co-production between Legendary Pictures and Sunrise. Netflix will stream the film worldwide, but there is no release date yet.

The first concept art for the Gundam live-action film

The live-action adaptation was announced back in 2018. Jordan Vogt-Roberts who directed Kong: Skull Island will direct and produce the film while Naohiroshi Ogata of Sunrise will also help produce. Cale Boyter, who worked on the Detective Pikachu movie, is also producing. Comic book author Brian K. Vaughan will be writing the script and serving as executive producer for the adaptation.

Director Jordan Vogt-Roberts gave a message about directing the “first proper live-action” Gundam film, while keeping a RX-93 Nu Gundam beside him:

Gundam is a Japanese mix-media franchise that focuses on mecha robots, created by Sunrise and Yoshiyuki Tomino. The franchise officially premiered on April 7, 1979, with the Mobile Suit Gundam anime series. In addition to the popular anime series and its spin-offs, the franchise also has manga, novels, video games, and toys.
