Mahouka: Reminiscence Arc Gets New Trailer & Reveals Theme Song

The official Twitter account for Mahouka (The Irregular at Magic High School) has released a new trailer for the Reminiscence Arc, and it also features the new theme song “Ripe Aster” by Kairi Yagi. In addition, the anime special will have a broadcast on December 31 (New Year’s Eve). Check out the new trailer:

Studio 8bit returns to animate the Reminiscence Arc of Mahouka after the Miyuki spin-off The Honor Student at Magic High School by CONNECT, and the trailer shows the young Tatsuya and Miyuki. Yen Press describes the new arc:

In 2092, Okinawa was suddenly invaded without warning by an unknown enemy force. Miyuki and her mother were caught up in the battle that ensued, leaving them in dire straits where they were all but helpless, relying on the help of a lone young man… named Tatsuya. This is the story of how the Shiba siblings got where they are now! (Yen Press)

The prequel anime will premiere in Winter 2022. Kairi Yaigi, the artist behind the Mahouka: Reminiscence Arc theme song (featured in the new trailer), was previously the singing voice of Vivy in Vivy -Fluorite Eye’s Song. The original anime ranked as the best new show of Spring 2021 and 2nd best anime overall behind Fruits Basket!

The special broadcast at the end of the year might also reveal the exact release date.
