Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Announced For 2023

It has been a little under 2 months since the movie first premiered on December 24th in Japan, and JUJUTSU KAISEN season 2 anime has now been announced for 2023. They previously teased the news at the beginning of February. After the Death Painting arc, it’s time for the short Gojo’s Past arc (15 chapters), and then it will be time for the insanely hyped Shibuya Incident arc. It was announced at a special screening of the movie in Japan, and you can see the special illustration by Akutami Gege:

The cast members who were present at the event were Ogata Megumi (Yuta), Hanazawa Kana (Rika), Nakamura Yuichi (Gojo), Sakurai Takahiro (Geto) and the surprise guest Enoki Junya (Yuji). They greeted the audience and talked a little before making the season 2 announcement. Sakurai’s greeting was in the style of his character, saying “To all the monkeys in the country! Hello, I’m Takahiro Sakurai, the actor who plays Geto Suguru.”

Studio MAPPA animated both the 24-episode first season and movie for the franchise. Akutami Gege writes and draws the original manga, which is published by VIZ in English. You can read the synopsis:

Although Yuji Itadori looks like your average teenager, his immense physical strength is something to behold! Every sports club wants him to join, but Itadori would rather hang out with the school outcasts in the Occult Research Club. One day, the club manages to get their hands on a sealed cursed object. Little do they know the terror they’ll unleash when they break the seal… (VIZ)

Before the JUJUTSU KAISEN season 2 airs, fans of the franchise will also be able to watch the prequel movie in the United States, Canada, and many more countries this March.
