Makoto Akui’s Ao no Orchestra manga is getting an anime adaptation. The information was announced on Akui’s Twitter account, along with a special illustration celebrating the announcement:
The Ao no Orchestra manga started serialization in 2017 on Shogakukan’s Manga ONE app. Shogakukan is also publishing the physical copies in Ura Sunday Magazine. There are currently 9 volumes out, with the 10th slated for April 19 release. Currently, the manga has over 60 chapters. A literal translation of the title is Blue Orchestra, but the manga hasn’t been licensed in English yet.
The story follows Hajime Aono who spent his childhood playing the violin. However, as he grows up he stops playing it because he starts to feel burnout. He reaches middle school and realizes that he doesn’t know what to do with his life, which makes it difficult for him to choose which direction to take with his education. One day he meets Ritsuko Akine, whose dream is to get into a high school with a good orchestra club. Hajime finds himself getting close to Ritsuko and she further drags him back into the world of violinists…
There is still no information about the potential studio or the format for the upcoming anime adaptation of the Ao no Orchestra manga.
