One Piece Returns on April 17, Six Weeks After Toei Animation Hack

One Piece anime is returning on April 17, six weeks after the hiatus caused by the Toei Animation security breach started. The upcoming, 1,014th episode is titled “Marco’s Tears! The Bond of the Whitebeard Pirates!” and is a part of the currently ongoing WANO KUNI arc.

On March 11, Toei Animation revealed that their servers were breached and that as a result many of their titles would be going on temporary hiatus. The affected titles included One PieceDragon Quest: The Adventure of DaiDigimon Ghost Game and Delicious Party Precure. A week later, on March 18, the studio announced that the upcoming Dragon Ball movie, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Movie release date has been postponed from the previously scheduled April 22.

This Sunday, Japanese fans will be able to watch a rerun of the 1,013th episode “Yamato’s Past! The Man Who Came for an Emperor of the Sea!” while they wait for One Piece anime to officially return.

The franchise didn’t waste time during the hiatus period for the anime, as a new visual for the upcoming One Piece: Red movie was revealed. The new visual features a mysterious character. It was previously confirmed that the Straw Hats would be appearing in the movie.
