Rent a Girlfriend Season 2 revealed the main trailer ahead of the July 1 premiere. The trailer featuring the opening song by CHiCO with HoneyWorks, titled “Himitsu Koigokoro“:
MIMiNARI and asmi are performing the ending theme song, titled “Ienai“. Both the opening and the ending themes’ CD jacket were revealed in addition to the trailer:
The anime series previously released character trailers for its main female characters – Ruka Sarashina, Sumi Sakurasawa, Mami Nanami, and Chizuru Mizuhara.
Kazuomi Koga is directing season 2 of Rent-a-Girlfriend anime, with Kanna Hirayama on character designs. Hyadain is composing the music. TMS Entertainment also animated the first season of the anime adaptation, which had 12 episodes and aired in the summer of 2020.
The story is based on a manga by Reiji Miyajima. Kodansha publishes the manga in English and describes the plot as:
In today’s Japan, “rental” services can deliver an afternoon with a “friend,” a “parent,” even a fake girlfriend! After a staggering betrayal by his girlfriend, hapless freshman Kazuya gets just desperate enough to give it a try.
