Solo Leveling Anime Petition Meets Its 150,000 Goal

Before you say it. Yes. It’s not likely that the petition meeting its goal means an anime is now coming. However, this many signatures for the Solo Leveling anime petition shows how popular it is and has definitely spread awareness. The publishers are already considering ways to turn the webtoon into anime, games and live-actions.

The petition was started on Change.org in February 2019 by Alex Seven. Its goal is to try and get Netflix to work on an anime adaptation of Chu-Gong’s popular webtoon “Solo Leveling”. Alex also asked the fans to sign a title request to Netflix on https://help.netflix.com/en/titlerequest.

Netflix has licensed a number of popular anime series. Some of them are Devilman Crybaby, Violet Evergarden, BEASTARS, The Seven Deadly Sins, among many others.

Alex mentioned that there was previously a petition for other Korean manhwas (Tower of God, The God of High School, Noblesse). He added that all of those already got/are getting their anime adaptations. That means fans should work on increasing the fan-base which will in turn increase the chances for an anime.

For those who don’t know, “Solo Leveling” is a popular South Korean webtoon series written by Chu-Gong. It received a manhwa adaptation in 2018 and got a huge following and great ratings.

Synopsis:

Since a portal appeared that connects our world to another full of monsters and creatures of all kinds, some people have acquired powers and the ability to hunt them, obtaining the name of hunters. The protagonist, Sung Jin-woo, is the weakest of the E rank hunters and barely stronger than a normal human.
He is nicknamed by his fellow hunters as “the weakest”. One day, he and others find themselves trapped in an extremely dangerous dungeon, with only a few surviving and managing to escape. Sung Jin-woo himself barely survives and is the only one who completes all the tests in this dungeon, becoming a “player”, and can now see an interface that shows him missions, statistics, inventory, stores and levels. Will he manage to level up to become the most powerful hunter?

The Solo Leveling anime petition has now met its original goal of 150,000 signatures, and has now auto-increased to 200,000. Might have to wait a bit more, but the series has come back strong with Season 2 this August and definitely gives hope to its fans.
